Here’s one for the APRA members and SCU students in Lismore

I will be in Lismore next Thursday the 8th of August 2013, at Southern Cross University taking a workshop on Screen Composition. Its open to all SCU students and APRA members in the area.  I will take you through the highs and lows of writing music for the screen, and show you a few tips on writing that great score. Hope to see you there!

Check out two great films at Melbourne International Film Festival this year. THE ROCKET, an extraordinary narrative feature set in LAOS, directed by Kim Mordaunt,  which has already swept up numerous awards at festivals all over the world……and PHOTOCOPIER, directed by Louise Alston, a tragic comic short film, which you just gotta see! On both films I composed the score.

The film is directed by Tom Murray and Madeleine Hetherton. Tom Murray’s previous films Dhakiyarr vs the King (2004) and In My Father’s Country (2008) have won many awards including the Dendy Award for Best Film at the Sydney Film Festival, NSW Premier’s History Award, the ADG Award for Best Direction in a Feature documentary, and selection for major international festivals including Sundance and IDFA. Madeleine Hetherton’s previous projects include the successful documentary series Making Babies for SBS, the 52 minute documentary Beats Across Borders for the ABC, and her current film The Surgery Ship is due for delivery to SBS in 2013. With music by Caitlin Yeo, and editing by Vanessa Milton, this is elegant and thought provoking documentary making at its best.

What a blast for all at The Rocket this weekend!

Its been a stellar weekend for The Rocket as it premiered on home soil at the 60th Sydney Film Festival. Audiences have laughed, gasped and cried on the journey with AHLO.
